The Webopedia defines SEO as "Short for search engine optimization, and is the process of increasing the number of visitors to a Web site by ranking high in the search results of search engines. The higher a Web site ranks in the results of a search, the greater the chance that that site will be visited by a user. It's common practice for Internet users to not visit pages and pages of search results, so where a site ranks in a set of search results is essential for directing more traffic to the site."
They go on to further say that "SEO helps to ensure that a site is accessible to a search engine and improves the chances that the site will be found by the search engine."
Can't argue with that, right? Well actually, you can. The problem with SEO is that when you're writing copy to a search engine, you're forgetting your target market. The foundation, the very essence of good copy says that you write to your target market.
